Japan on Monday spoke out against a recent hacking attack against Sony Pictures, saying it is coordinating with the United States in taking measures against cyber threats.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told journalists that cyberattacks posed a serious problem to Japanese national security.
The US blames North Korea for the hacking attack that escalated to threats against US cinemas and caused Sony to cancel "The Interview's" release.
North Korea said President Barack Obama is "recklessly" spreading rumours of a Pyongyang-orchestrated cyberattack of Sony Pictures and warns of strikes against the White House, Pentagon and "the whole US mainland, that cesspool of terrorism."
A long statement from the powerful National Defence Commission late on Sunday underscored Pyongyang's sensitivity at a film whose plot focuses on the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
